We are committed to providing patients with the tools they need to live free from addiction.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Residential Program

Set in a beautifully renovated building on Hoag’s Newport Beach campus, the 21-bed residential program - SolMar Recovery - is overseen by a multi-disciplinary clinical team, who will be on-hand at all hours of the day and night to ensure the highest level of evidence-based care for those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.

This is the only program that is licensed as a residential treatment facility, feels and functions like a residential program, and is physically co-located with an acute care hospital. All of the safety, security, and quality of Orange County’s best hospital is available, in a place that feels like home.

Medical Detox

For many patients, treatment begins with medical detoxification to cleanse the body of addictive substances. Only the addiction recovery programs at Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers is able to offer safe and effective medically supervised detoxification. Care is provided under the direct, continual supervision of an on-site physician and medical team.

Our team:

  • Manages and eliminates medically dangerous withdrawal symptoms
  • Reduces the physical discomfort associated with withdrawal
  • Medically manages any co-existing medical or emotional disorders
  • Developments a long-term personalized treatment plan to empower patients with the support and skills necessary to enjoy lifelong abstinence from alcohol and other drugs

Inpatient Rehab

Once drugs and alcohol are out of a person’s system, the real work of recovery can begin. Drug and alcohol rehabilitation affords patients and families the ability to begin the process of self-discovery and family reunification. These are the hallmarks of successful recovery.

The admissions counseling staff at Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers will discuss the best possible path of treatment in order to meet your specific needs. Group, individual, and family therapy-as well as in-depth education and sober lifestyle training-are a primary focus in all levels of care, providing the tools needed to prevent relapse and thrive in a new and sustained sober lifestyle.

Outpatient Rehab

When determined appropriate by Hoag’s multidisciplinary treatment team, Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers provides multiple levels of outpatient care to meet your unique needs. While the intensity of each of our innovative programs differs, the goals are the same: To empower you to develop a renewed self-image and to make positive lifestyle changes that offer both freedom from addiction and a happier, more fulfilling life. Overall, our goal is to help you establish a foundation for lifelong sobriety.

Day Treatment Rehab Program

Day treatment rehab patients attend all program activities seven days per week. In this level of rehab, patients return to their homes or other sober living environments at the end of each clinical day in treatment. This level of care is designed for patients to practice-for a limited period at night-the skills developed in the structure of the full-day recovery program.

Intensive Outpatient Rehab Program

The intensive outpatient rehab program consists of either a morning (AM) or evening (PM) rehab program. AM outpatients attend program activities six days per week, six hours per day. PM patients attend program activities four days per week for approximately three hours per day. The admissions counseling staff at Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers will discuss with you whether this level of care is suitable as a beginning point in rehab, or may best meet the needs of the patient as a graduated step-down after starting rehab in a higher level of care.

Transitional/ Extended Care Rehab Program

Our transitional / extended care rehab program is specifically structured as a graduated step-down for patients completing recommended treatment at Hoag, or another treatment facility, in a higher level of care. Designed around a deeper understanding of the healing process of the addicted brain, transitional rehab allows patients to maintain a foothold in the structure of the therapeutic environment, while supporting the practice of newly developed skills in autonomous daily living routines. Offered three days per week for up to eight weeks, many patients and families find this program to be a valuable support system encouraging a successful transition back to work, school, and home life.

Dual Diagnosis

Addiction Recovery Center with Dual Diagnosis Capability

Many individuals who suffer from addiction also battle some form of mental / behavioral disorder that is coexisting with their chemical addiction. Co-occurring disorders may be independent of each other, yet they invariably influence each other. For this reason, it is important that both aspects of a dual diagnosis be addressed and treated as part of recovery treatment.

Secondary diagnoses may include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Ongoing Recovery Management

Empowering Individuals for Lifelong Freedom from Addiction

Recovery doesn’t end with rehab. At Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers, we offer ongoing recovery management programs designed to provide individuals and their families with the support and resources they need to maintain lifelong sobriety. We are passionate about equipping and empowering people and their loved ones with the tools to achieve lifelong freedom from addiction.

Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers offers ongoing recovery management through weekly, on-site continuing care groups. These groups are offered free of charge to patients and family members who have successfully completed their recommended treatment plans. By participating in ongoing care, individuals and their families are able to continue to build positive relationships while receiving the support and resources necessary for lifetime sobriety.

12-Step Program

It is important to note that a key difference of our approach at Hoag is that the 12-Step Program is not used as a stand-alone component. Instead, we combine the 12-Step Program with an individualized approach to patient care that focuses on evidence-based treatment delivered by a multidisciplinary clinical team within a safe, confidential, and supportive environment.

The 12-Step Program is used effectively as part of our medically supervised detoxification program. We tailor our treatment plans to meet the unique needs of individual patients. Those we serve benefit from our multidisciplinary approach, and our commitment to empowering people with the ongoing support they need to live addiction-free lives marked by lasting change.

Extensive Family Support

Understanding the Importance of Family Recovery

Week-Long Family Program

One of the distinguishing features of Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers is a week-long program dedicated to the family. This program is designed to better educate individuals and their loved ones about the complex disease of chemical dependency in order to help begin the healing process within the family.

This is often a life-changing week where relationships can begin to mend from confusion, hurt, and misunderstandings. The addiction medicine therapists at Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers model and teach new communication skills, giving individuals and family members a means to change behaviors and enhance the healing process. Family members are guided to work on their own issues, develop self-care techniques and learn how to support their loved ones who are dealing with addiction recovery.

Family Therapy

Beyond this week-long program, Hoag family therapists are available to counsel with family members, providing ongoing support and education specific to the person’s issues. Our counselors are available to meet with family members privately, with the individual and with other clinical staff, as appropriate.

Hoag’s Heroes-Southern California’s Largest Recovery Group

Another unique and valued facet of ongoing recovery is Hoag’s alumni network, Hoag’s Heroes. This group serves as a sober extended family made up of prior patients and their family members. Their mission is to provide positive support and friendships through a thriving community of alumni and volunteers.
